Threatening Letters | Harassment | Anonymous Letters | Handwriting Analysis

Our Berlin detectives repeatedly encounter clients being terrorised by anonymous threatening letters, insults, defamations and harassment in the form of product orders placed in their name. The list of criminal offences covered by these actions is long and extends to bodily harm caused by psychological pressure.

Experience shows that the authors of such letters are not careless and take precautions to avoid being discovered. Unfortunately, in many cases the police remain inactive, passing responsibility to the public prosecutor’s office, which in turn refers it back to the police.

Investigations in cases involving threatening letters are often very difficult. However, the handwriting experts of Kurtz Investigations Berlin analyse these letters and produce a report that can serve as an indication, evidence, or basis for further investigation. In some cases, even mantrailing can be a useful investigative alternative.

Our handwriting experts also verify the authenticity of wills.

Stalking is a criminal offence

In the densely populated Berlin area, distances between perpetrator and stalking victim are usually short. Such a metropolitan area naturally generates constant cases that fulfil the criminal offence of stalking (§ 238 StGB). Consequently, there are many associations and other organisations in Berlin that support victims in coping with the psychological, medical-physical, and legal aspects of such offences. These include, among others, the Crisis and Advisory Service e. V. with its Stop-Stalking department, WEISSE RING e. V., Hilfe von Opfern von Straftaten Berlin e. V., and Sozialhummel e. V. These aid organisations play a crucial role for stalking victims, who understandably often feel unprotected and helpless. Without this advisory support, many victims would be left alone with their experiences. The consequences could be dramatic and have often been so in the past.

While the private detectives of Kurtz Detective Agency Berlin are also available to listen and advise victims, our main focus in harassment cases is the identification of the perpetrator and the legally admissible documentation of offences, in order to prevent future attacks legally, for example through court orders under reference to the Protection Against Violence Act.

Incidentally: according to the 2013 Police Crime Statistics (PKS), there were 25,517 victims of stalking in Germany in that single year alone.
