Berlin ranks first in the per capita statistics for stolen vehicles. The absolute number is only higher in North Rhine-Westphalia, where, however, around five times as many people live and a correspondingly higher number of vehicles are registered. In 2013 alone, around 3,200 cars were stolen from Berlin’s streets, according to the German Insurance Association (GDV).
